Activists from Kampania Palestyna lit candles and hung up photos of Vik on the beautiful Palm Tree sculpture in Jerusalem Avenue, central Warsaw. Every car going by will see it, everyone crossing the road will see it. The memorial is still there today.
Around 6 weeks ago activists from the campaign hung a kuffeya around the top of the palm tree in protest at the Polish govt meeting the Israeli govt in Jerusalem and the growing normalisation and alibi for apartheid that Poland is providing for Israel. The tree is now associated as a symbol of solidarity with the oppressed and in now particular, Palestine.
